Black Romance Has A History is a podcast where two friends and historians- author Dr. Nicole Jackson and genre historian Steve Ammidown- dig into the history and cultural context behind Black romance novels, the authors who wrote them, and the industry behind them. Season one is a deep dive into 1994, AKA The Summer of Black Love, when more Black romances hit bookshelves than in any year prior. We’ll be talking with authors, readers, and publishing professionals to understand what happened to cause the wave of Black romance that started in the summer of 1994, and what has happened in the 30 years since.
